Accounting Clerk

We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Corporation providing drug and alcohol treatment and supportive services.


Required Qualifications & Prior Experience:

Must have at least 3 years’ accounting experience in billing, A/P, A/R and general accounting functions.  Non-Profit experience working directly with Government grants, billing, A/P and A/R preferred.  Must possess a valid California Driver’s License or Identification Card.  Must pass an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and educational verifications.


Required Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of accepted accounting practices and principles.  Proficient in Excel and MS Office applications and possess at a minimum intermediate knowledge, skills and abilities in office automation equipment and software, including Internet applications.   Knowledge of FundEZ and ADP software preferred but not required.  Must possess good oral and written communication skills in order to gather necessary information and documentation from other departments, personnel, other agencies and funding sources.


Personal Qualities:

Must have a high degree of sensitivity to our agency’s target populations, including substance abusers/users, correctional populations, Veterans, persons with HIV/AIDS, LGBTQ community, the homeless, indigent and those dually-diagnosed.


Supervisory Relationships:

Works under the direct supervision of the Controller.



Prepare accounts payables, receivables and bank deposits.

Assist Controller with a wide-variety of Accounting projects and monthly activities as needed.

Assist and support Billing Specialist and Finance Department personnel.

Assist with Cost Reports and Budgets pertaining to external contracts.

Gather necessary information and documentation to generate accurate reports by communicating directly with other departments, employees, supervisors and managers.

Ensure timely execution of departmental filing.

Adhere to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, personnel files and internal communications.

Perform all other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
